Only with the generous assistance of more than 80 volunteers are we at St. Francis House able to open our doors and effectively serve the poor. Some volunteers drive our van and pick up furniture and other large donated items. The handy among us fix our donated toasters and phones, paint the walls or tend our grounds. Some sew duffel
bags or quilts. Others put together layettes for new mothers. They serve the food, help pick out clothes, put together a set of dishes and silverware for a family or help with a thousand and one other tasks. Throughout the hundreds of interactions with our clients, St. Francis House volunteers and staff are compassionate and caring, treating every person who walks in the door as an equal. We are true to our mission to lovingly serve the impoverished, working poor, homeless and forgotten with dignity and simplicity.
Volunteers usually choose a half or full day shift one day per week — 9:30 a.m. to noon or noon to 2:00 p.m.
Please call or email us if you would like to volunteer.
This month we need volunteers to put together layettes for newborn babies.
We are particularly in need of hard boiled eggs and fresh vegetables for snacks.
