OUR NEW HOME
Together, St. Francis House and Plymouth Housing have worked to build 100 units of housing for the chronically homeless. Plymouth Housing has sold St. Francis House a 7,000 sq. ft. commercial unit on the street level to serve as our new home. The functional design of the new building will reflect St. Francis House’s service model and increase service to community members with key design features.
A VISION FOR THE FUTURE
Approximately five years ago, the Board of Directors of St. Francis House began proactively working towards the long-term sustainability of the organization. The original location on Spruce Street at 12th Avenue was operating out of a run-down and inefficient building despite being located on two prime real estate parcels. Reimagining the home of St. Francis House services quickly became a necessity.
After completing a comprehensive strategy analysis, St. Francis House partnered with and sold the property to Plymouth Housing, a local nonprofit, with the mission to “eliminate homelessness and address its causes by preserving, developing, and operating safe, quality, supportive housing and by providing adults experiencing homelessness with opportunities to stabilize and improve their lives.”1
St. Francis House is raising $300,000 in a special capital campaign to buy and develop the portion of the building from which we will operate our community store and services. A contribution to St. Francis House is an investment in all of Seattle. It will lift up those in need and provide a healthier and more equitable community for all its citizens. Help us achieve our dream of a new home so we can continue providing our clients with a sense of community, help them with their basic needs, and serve them with dignity and respect.
